Tailoring Industry - Development of the production, import, Export and sales in Bulgaria

Summary
Production
  • The increase in production in the tailoring industry continued for the third consecutive quarter. Yoy increase is 7.6% and as to the second quarter of 2013 it is up by 9.3%. In the first nine months of 2013 the increase is 4.3 YoY.
  • Turnover of products, goods and services jumped 6.9% YoY and to the second quarter of 2012 - by 8.7%. In the first nine months of the year on an annual basis turnover is up by 9.2%.
Foreign Trade
  • In the third quarter of 2013 there is an increase in trade with tailoring, textiles and knitwear products for second consecutive quarter. Rise is 11.9% YoY. In the first nine months the increase is 5%.
  • Share in the whole foreign trade of the country in the Jan-Sept 2013 period is 5.6%, in exports - 7.3% and in imports - 4.1%. Compared to the first nine months of 2012 the changes are: trade – no change, exports – down 0.2 percentage points, imports – down 0.8 pp.
  • The trend of increase in imports of tailoring products continued in the third quarter of 2013 for second quarter in a row. Yoy increase is 17.1%. In the first nine months of the year the increase is 6.6%.
  • In the third quarter of 2013 export increased as well. Compared to the second quarter of 2013 it is bigger by 19%, and on an annual basis – by 4.7%. During the January-September period the rise is 1.5%.
Domestic Market Sales
  • The bulk of the production from the tailoring industry in Bulgaria is still a toll manufacturing. In the January-September period only about 2% of the produced apparel and other tailoring products are sold domestically.
  • Sales of Bulgarian manufacturers on the domestic market in the third quarter of 2013 are up on annual basis. Compared to the third quarter of 2013 the increase is 68.4%.
  • In the first nine months the increase is 23.6%.
